10 Tricks and a Treat
10 Skincare Tricks that will change your life:
1. Double Cleansing trick
This is what gives the "glow" that everyone wants. The dewy, fresh, "clean-girl aesthetic", if you will. They all double cleanse. Using an oil-based cleanser or cleansing balm to gently remove debris, lock in moisture, and maintain hydration after the cleanse is complete. For the first cleanse (or pre-cleanse), gently massage the cleansing oil or cleansing balm, removing all makeup, skincare, and debris. For the second cleanse, a foam or gel cleanser is ideal and will work to unclog pores and thoroughly clean. This can be done morning and night. Morning is completely optional but this is something you'll definitely want to do every night.
2. SPF reapplication trick
The sun works overtime to damage your skin. Getting routine facials and using products consistently that work for skin are absolutely necessary, but the most important thing really, is using SPF every single day to avoid wasting your time and the money spent on skincare products and facial treatments. Many people opt out of SPF because sunscreens can be thick, greasy, and leave a white/gray cast, especially on dark skin. Sometimes after finding a sunscreen you like, you have to carry it around with you and clean your hands before reapplying it to your face. If you're wearing makeup, you have to carefully pat it in, trying not to smudge your makeup. This is as inconvenient as it sounds, unless you have Still Water SPF 50. All you need to do is mist it all over your face any and every time you need sun protection. It even doubles as a setting spray, improving the blend and longevity of your makeup look.
3. Air-drying trick
Never use a towel or washcloth on your face. They inevitably harbor bacteria even after going through the washer and dryer. If drying your face is urgent and you don't have time for air drying, use a paper towel or, even better, a slightly damp Skin Candy to remove the excess water or excess product.
4. Retinol sandwich trick
Retinol/Vitamin A is the most powerful skincare ingredient that exists. Using retinol correctly and safely will help you achieve the skin of your dreams and slow down the aging process in order to keep your dream skin for way longer. Using retinol incorrectly or too often can be really harmful. A common way to damage your skin is to use harsh ingredients like retinol, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, etc. all at the same time and too often. These ingredients should be used only a couple days/nights per week, especially to start, and should be paired with more gentle and neutral ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe, and niacinamide. An effective retinol sandwich starts by first applying Awake n' Bake Hyaluronic acid primer to clean skin, then Roma Vitamin A serum in the middle, then ending with Baby Cheeks gentle moisturizer with aloe, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide as the final step. There's no need for SPF, this will be done at night since most active ingredients (retinol/vitamin a especially) don't mix well with the sun.
5. Anti-aging trick
Get routine facials and request dermaplaning and micro-needling to be included in your treatment. Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique using a sterile blade, usually performed by a professional, to remove the outermost layer of dead skin, debris, and peach fuzz. Allowing products used during the facial procedure and in your skincare routine done at home to better penetrate and work more effectively. The other highly recommended treatment is micro-needling, tiny needles used to puncture the outermost layers of the skin to trigger cell turnover and prompt a new skin surface with smoother texture and less visible blemishes. 6. "No Make-up Makeup" trick
Apply Awake n' Bake hyaluronic acid primer to your foundation and/or concealer to dilute it and create a sheer coverage, skin-like pigment that seamlessly glides onto the skin to plump and hydrate your skin while camouflaging your blemishes, looking airbrushed, like a tinted serum should.
7. Makeup Removal Trick
Doing this in the shower whenever possible makes it so much more fulfilling. A facial massage with Anoint oil cleanser then gently buffing skin with Piña Colada before using Skin and Tonic to complete the cleanse is such a nice way to end each day. Keep a couple Skin Candy close by to assist with wiping, patting, or removing any makeup, excess water, or product if needed at any point during the makeup removal process.
8. Product distribution trick
Apply all skincare, and most makeup products to your ears, hairline, hands, neck, and decollate as well as your face. Make sure your esthetician and dermatologists include neck and decollate along with the face in all facial treatments and procedures. Apply all skincare, including cleansers, serums, etc., and especially SPF to the face, neck, ears, and hands daily.
9. Brighter under-eyes trick
After cleansing and doing skin prep, apply Eye-Cloud eye masks underneath the eyes and let it sit and catch the fallouts while doing eyebrows, eye-shadow, eyeliner, etc. Then after removing, apply a thin layer of Sky Cream and lightly massage it in before applying under-eye concealer. It will blend flawlessly and limit creasing.
10. Smooth, hydrated lips even in the winter trick
Exfoliate your lips, by buffing away dead skin cells that cause lip lines and chapped lips. Without dead skin, lip balms and other lip hydrators penetrate better, keeping lips hydrated for longer. When it comes to your skin and lips, neither do well in extreme temperatures, this is why lips become chapped in the winter and skin becomes dry. Lip Service Lip Scrub + Lip Balm Duo contains SPF for protection from the sun and vitamin e, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter to help lather and protect during colder months.
